A hidden gem in Sacramento that's for sure. The best thing about this place is the funky music, the 70s speakeasy look, and the staff. The best time to pull up is for dinner or during happy hour! They definitely have hands down some of the best drink offerings/prices all around town. I ordered a revolver and a hot dog during their happy hour. Strong and filling that's for sure. I can honestly say I have never been disappointed coming here. Highly recommend it.

First time here. We went with friends and were able to get in on some happy hour deals too. We had the cheeseburger, hot dog and 2 different types of steaks. The food was good and the experience. I didn't care for the side veggies. The drinks were good but there's a bit too much ice in there in my opinion. The service was good and attentive. The hostess who seated us had such a great positive attitude it was a nice greeting! The ambiance had a speak easy vibe to it and had cool pictures on the wall. Overall it was a great time and experience. They also provide you a post card you can mail out and they will take care of the postage so that's fun!!

A fried recommended The Butterscotch Den to me as a great date-night spot and she was right! Just a few days before, I made a reservation through Yelp for an early Saturday evening at 4:45pm. The Butterscotch Den is a great place for drinks, food, and a unique atmosphere. Right when you walk in it feels like you traveled back to the 60s and are entering a dimly lit upscale bar - very mid-century modern in the best ways. Pretty immediately we were friendly greeted and taken to our booth right across from the community grill. There were only a few people at the bar and one other diner when we got there but after 5pm is when more people started showing up. We appreciated the fun vintage menu design and ordered 2 of their Le Freak, C'est Chic drinks to start - by recommendation of one of the staff that seated us. Their food menu is really simple but all the ingredients were high quality. We shared their ribeye (why not, it was date-night!), a hot dog, a baked potato with all the toppings, and a veggie side. The ribeye steak was delicious, juicy, and you can season it yourself with different options available at the community grill located at the center of the dining room. The hot dog was an all-beef hot dog that tasted way better than your average hot dog and it was a decent size. The baked potato was just as you'd expect a yummy high-quality baked potato to be - fluffy and steamy as you peel back the foil wrapping to top it with chives, butter, shredded cheddar cheese, and real bits of juicy bacon. Lastly, the veggies were asparagus, chopped zucchini, and chopped yellow squash wrapped in foil for the grill. We didn't season the veggies but would in the future and would also leave them on the grill a bit longer - still they were tasty and fresh with a nice crunch. The Le Freak, C'est Chic drink was so yummy and easy to drink, we finished it in minutes and were on to some other cocktails that are no longer on the menu, but were all delicious! The service was great - everyone was friendly and it was nice that all the employees were serving every table so you didn't have to wait for a single server. We'll definitely be back and maybe even on a night when they have jazz (Tues/Thurs nights) or the vinyl DJ (2nd Friday nights).

This is a nice bar with affordable drinks and food! Any meat you will grill yourself. The ambiance was relaxed with dim lighting and oldies music. The bar was pretty warm, likely because of the grill. We arrived at 4:15pm on Wednesday and there was plenty of seating available. The grilling station was clean and well stocked with a variety seasonings and sauces. The servers were quick and checked on us regularly. The bathroom was clean. The baked potato was delicious, and the rest of my family loved their burgers! You can't beat a $3 hot dog during happy hour!

Truly a hidden gem of Sacramento. Tucked away in Oak Park they have a great cocktail selection. I especially enjoy their holiday pop-up during the winter months.

Cool place to come to with a date (or not ) , reminds me of old school steakhouses, dim lighting , nice music and cool atmosphere. A bit pricey since you're cooking your own steak but that's part of the allure . We will definitely be back !! Thanks for going above and beyond with the service Kalea !

So cute during Christmas! We had a much needed GNO on Sunday, 12/15 and the place was pretty busy. We planned on eating dinner but there were no available tables when we arrived. We opted to sit in the corner near the bar towards the back of the restaurant for a round of drinks. There is a small counter-ish area with 2-3 bar stools, it worked for the 4 of us! The drinks were very creative and cute. I was DD so I asked the bartender to make me a minty, fruity mocktail. She wasn't the friendliest but I get it. A table opened up temporarily and they sat us until the next reservation at 8pm. We had about 50 minutes to grab another round of drinks and appetizers. We got the shrimp cocktail and 2 pretzels. Both nothing too extraordinary but paired perfectly with our drinks. Our server here was nice. We saw that dinner was available, a grill-yourself type of steak dinner concept where you cook your meat and potato at an indoor bbq grill station, which was quite interesting. We weren't really into that at the time so we decided to go elsewhere for our main meal. We ended our Butterscotch Deb experience with two slices of pie, which were delicious (from the real pie company). Overall, cool and fun ambience and great place to hang.

I recently attended a fantastic holiday pop-up organized by fellow Yelper Aileen, and it was an absolute blast! That truly got me into the festive spirit. And yes, for all the skeptics out there, "Die Hard" is definitely a Christmas movie! The place was decked out in holiday charm, with decorations that made it feel like a winter wonderland. We sat in a cozy booth, which was perfect for our group. The drinks were served in festive cups, adding an extra touch of holiday cheer to the experience. One of the highlights was the communal cooking center in the middle of the seating area. It was so fun to watch the cooking process. While there is limited street parking, don't worry - there's a lot in the back. Overall, it was a memorable night filled with holiday joy, thanks to Aileen's wonderful planning and the charming atmosphere of the bar. Highly recommend

Made my first visit to The Butterscotch Den during the Miracle Popup. The place was DECKED OUT with holiday decor! I was obsessed. They had a holiday cocktail menu with so much variety of flavors to choose from. I ended up getting the Rudolph's Replacement, similar to an espresso martini. It was so tasty! It tasted like a vanilla frappuccino. They also had live jazz playing on the Tuesday night we went. They were fantastic and really set the holiday, cozy vibe. The prices were pretty fair. They have steak, burger, and hot dog options for you to choose. BEWARE: you will be cooking the meet yourself lol. I didn't know this going in but it was honestly so much fun. It definitely added to the experience. It was fun chatting with other guests at the stovetop and giving each other tips. My friends and I are already planning to visit again!
